Our next spotlight shines on Chauntelle Kelley. She is the daughter of Travis and Lacie Kelley. During her freshman year, Chauntelle was a member of the softball team. She enjoys hanging out with her friends when she's not enjoying her favorite hobby, sleeping. Chauntelle's favorite subject is Science. Emma Johnston is the next senior in the spotlight. She is the daughter of Amanda Umphrey and Joshua Johnston. Emma has been on the XC teams as well as Soccer, Basketball, and Softball teams. She is a member of the Varsity Club as well as the NHS. Emma has received many awards including All-Aroostook in basketball, but her proudest moment is making honor roll ever year of high school. This year, Emma took the nursing program at the Caribou Regional Career and Technical Center, where she has obtained her CNA certification. She intends to continue on this path at the University of Maine at Presque Isle majoring in nursing. This senior spotlight is on Charlie Hobbs. She is the daughter of Craig and Crystal Hobbs. Charlie is the Valedictorian of the Class of 2021. She is a member of the Varsity Club, Soccer, and Softball teams as well as a manager for the XC, Basketball, and Track teams. She is also a member of the NHS and has been involved in student government. Looking through her high school career, Charlie is most proud of her accomplishment of completing 41 college credits before graduation. Where she had time to fit in sports or her favorite hobby of traveling is a mystery. Charlie will be attending the University of Maine at Presque Isle for Business Administration with a concentration in Accounting. Joshua Jackson is the next senior in the spotlight. He is the son of Brandi Saucier and Peter Saucier. Josh has been a member of the basketball and soccer teams at WDHS along with the baseball team. His favorite subject in school has been History. Josh, enjoys the outdoors, so it's no surprise his favorite hobby is camping. Upon graduation, Josh plans to move to Pennsylvania and attend school to obtain is commercial driver's license. Shawn Helton is our next senior in the spotlight. He is the son of Brenda and Mike McCoy. Shawn has been a member of the soccer, XC, and basketball teams during is time at WDHS. He has also been an active member of the Civil Rights Team. He enjoys playing sports, but his favorite hobbies are gaming, paintball and target practice. Directly after graduation, Shawn will be leaving for Basic Training to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. The senior spotlight shines on Ashton Henry. He is the son of Amy & Lucas LaCombe and Joshua Henry. Ashton has been a very active member on the school's Civil Rights Team serving as President and during his senior year was elected President of the senior class. He has also been a part of the Gifted and Talented program. Ashton enjoys helping others. He has been a volunteer and huge help to the after school program at the Elementary School. Ashton enjoys music, he has spent his high school career participating in chorus and band. He could be seen at all of the basketball games rocking out on the drums. The next senior in the spotlight is Russell Farley III. He is the son of Russell Jr and Freda Farley. During his high school career, Russell has been a part of the Woodworking Club, Varsity Club, Soccer, and Baseball teams. Russell is often the first student at school in the morning, equipped with a "good morning" and a friendly smile and wave. Directly after graduation, Russell will be heading off to Basic Training to serve his country in the United States Marine Corps. The Marine motto Semper Fidelis means "always faithful" or "always loyal." Russell's hard work and dedication already embody this core value. This senior spotlight shines on Kyli Farley. She is the daughter of Mike and Angela Farley. Kyli is a member of the Varsity Club, and NHS. It is no surprise that playing sports is Kyli's favorite hobby. During her four years she has been a member of the Soccer, Basketball, Softball, XC and Track n' Field teams. Playing sports has not been her defining moment, Kyli is most proud of her academic accomplishment of being inducted into the National Honor Society. The spotlight now shines on Arianna Elliott. She is the daughter of James and Hannah Elliott. Arianna has been an active member of the school's Civil Rights Club, FFA, and a member of the Softball team. She is a gifted artist, and is involved in the Gifted and Talented Visual Arts program. In her down time here at school, Arianna can often be found in the Art room working on a new masterpiece or learning new techniques. Arianna plans to attend UMPI, however in her words, "I'm taking a gap year so I can build my house." If you know Arianna, you know she will accomplish all she put her mind to! Julian Echeverria is our next senior in the spotlight. Julian is the son of Trina Farley and Mitchel Knight. Julian is a member of the Baseball team, XC teams as well as Track n' Field. He is also a member of the Varsity Club and Woodworking Club. Julian has shown grit and determination through the years not only for the teams he has played on, but in the classroom and community as well. Recently he has joined the Washburn Fire Department as a Junior Firefighter and completed the EMT-Basic Course through NMCC. Julian will be attending Southern Maine Community College in the fall. Principal Worcester along with the staff of Washburn District High School are proud to announce Liddia Collins and Arianna Elliott as Co-Students of the Month for April. Both ladies are seniors at Washburn District High school. Liddia is the daughter of David and Dawn Collins. She is described by Ms. Jones as “…so thoughtful. Her writing in English shows how kind-hearted and family oriented she is.” Liddia is a member of Civil Rights, the National Honor Society and a member of the GT Visual Arts Program. Arianna is the daughter of James and Hannah Elliott. Ms. Jones comments “…how brilliant she is. She’ll make a great educator of young minds someday when she shares that knowledge and passion of hers.” In her free time, Arianna can often be found in the art room teaching herself new techniques. She is also a member of Civil Rights and the GT Visual Arts Program. Arianna is also a member of the school’s Softball team. Our spotlight shines on Gavin Dunagan. Gavin is the son of Candice & Liam Streeter and Dwight Dunagan. Gavin is a member of the Varsity club and played on the Soccer and Baseball teams as well as XC and Track n' field. His most memorable high school moment is from the XC season where he qualified for States reaching a personal record of 19:00 minutes. Gavin's favorite hobbies are running and listening to music and his favorite subject is Chemistry. Gavin plans to attend either the University of New England for Bio Engineering or the University of California at Irvine for Neural Engineering. Our next senior in the spotlight is Seth Doody. Seth is the son of John Doody and Michelle Doody-Dickinson. Seth enjoys riding snowmobiles and dirt bikes, however he has said wearing Red Wings is his favorite hobby! Seth has been a contributor to many projects in the shop during woodworking classes. His most proud moment is helping build the new baseball dugout last year. Seth will be attending NMCC in the fall concentrating on plumbing and heating. This Senior Spotlight is on Kyla Cunningham. Kyla is the daughter of Darin & Kaylie Cunningham, and Sharidan Gagnon. Kyla has been involved in student government, a manger for the boys basketball team, and a member of the NHS. Through the Business program at Presque Isle Regional Career and Technical Center, Kyla became involved in SkillsUSA. This past year, she had the privilege of serving as a State Officer.
