Honor Parts

Washburn District High School Principal and Superintendent Larry Worcester is pleased to announce the honor parts for the Class of 2023:  Valedictorian, Lucy Tate, Salutatorian, Christopher Tardie, First Honor Essayist, Heidi Echeverria, Second Honor Essayist, Chase Hobbs, Third Honor Essayist, Parker Corey

Tate is the daughter of Joshua and Sarah Tate.  During her junior year, Lucy was elected as Co-Public Relations Officer for Washburn’s Chapter of the National Honor Society and continued to serve in that position her senior year.  She has received several highest achievement awards in her classes and maintained highest honor roll every quarter.  Along with her achievements in the classroom, Lucy has managed the school’s cross-country and girls’ basketball teams and played soccer, softball, and track.  Earlier this spring, Lucy was selected as Senior Scholar Athlete for her work and dedication in the classroom and across the athletic programs.  In April, Lucy received the prestigious MPA Principal’s Award.  Lucy will be attending California Baptist University, studying architecture.   

Tardie is the son of Paul and Yvonne Tardie. He has been an active member of the school and the community.  His extracurricular activities span from athletics to the National Honor Society, Boy Scouts, yearbook contributor, and many activities in between.  Christopher has also spent countless hours volunteering in his community.  In the classroom, Christopher has earned many academic honors, including highest honors throughout his high school career.  He is an active member of Boy Scout Troop 177 and obtained the distinguished rank of Eagle Scout.  Christopher's athletic career has taken him to the State level in track and field.  He was named an Aroostook League Senior Scholar-Athlete earlier this spring and this past fall, was named to the All-Regional Soccer team.  Christopher will be attending Colby College in the fall, studying Pre-Med Biology.        

Echeverria is the daughter of Nina Pike, Trina Farley, and Mitchell Knight.  In her junior year, Heidi took advantage of the nursing program offered through Caribou Tech Center and obtained her CNA certification.  She has already put it to good use working part-time.  Besides working as a CNA, Heidi participates in the school’s athletic programs, is a member of the National Honor Society, and volunteers in various areas in the town.  She has maintained the highest honor roll throughout her high school career.  In the fall, Heidi plans to study Health Sciences and Psychology at Northeastern University through their Boston campus.

Hobbs is the son of Craig and Crystal Hobbs.  He was inducted into Washburn's chapter of the National Honor Society his sophomore year and was elected President his senior year.  In the classroom, he has earned several highest achievement awards in various classes and maintained highest honor roll.  Chase runs the clock and live-stream at many of the school's sporting events and volunteers at his church.  He began taking classes through the Caribou Tech Center during his junior year, where he obtained his Class A Commercial Drivers License and earned several certifications including OSHA 10 senior year while completing the Heavy Equipment Program.  This spring Chase was named the 2023 Student of the Year for the Caribou Tech Center for his excellence in the classroom, citizenship, and character.  Chase will be attending Northern Maine Community College for Auto Collision and Repair

Corey is the son of Ross and Billie Allen and Brad Corey.  He was a member of the FFA and held the office of President.  In June of 2022, Parker had the privilege of attending the FFA Leadership Conference held in Washington D.C.  He is a member of the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society and a four-year member of the boys’ basketball team.  He also participated in various other sports and clubs offered at school.  In the classroom, Parker has maintained highest honor roll all four years and has earned 16 college credits to jumpstart his future goals.  Parker plans to attend Husson University in the fall, studying Financial Planning.
