2024 Senior Spotlight

Brian

Brian Gregory Cruz

SENIOR SPOTLIGHT

Brian Cruz will be a 2024 graduate of Washburn District High School and is the son of Shannon Cruz.

During his high school career, Brian has been participated in varsity baseball, Soccer and Band. His favorite high school memory is playing guitar with Khadil everyday during study hall.

Brian is most proud of making music in the band room. His favorite hobbies include music and carpentry.

After graduation, Brian plans to get done school and form a punk rock band.

Looking back on his years at WDHS, the person that had the biggest impact on Brain was Mrs. Diette.

Brian leaves WDHS with this quote: “You Can’t Buy Happiness With Money.” 


Hilary

Hilary Hope Driscoll

Hilary Driscoll will be a 2024 graduate of Washburn District High School and is the daughter of Marci and Dale Driscoll.

During her high school career, she has been involved in Student Council, National Honor Society, Student Government, Yearbook and has been employed at Walmart.

Her favorite high school memory is when Kolbie helped us make the Monsters Inc hallway for Spring Carnival sophomore year.

Hilary is most proud of obtaining a 4.0 GPA

Her favorite hobbies are building Legos and hanging out with friends

After graduation Hilary plans to go to the University of Maine at Presque Isle for Health Science. Following that she will then go to the University of New England for Pharmacy.

Looking back on her years at WDHS, the person that had the biggest impact on Hilary is Mrs. Drost. She is always someone that she could count on and always pushed her to be her best. She truly loves Mrs. Drost and she is going to miss her so much.

Hilary leaves WDHS with this quote: "I am happy to be leaving high school, but incredibly sad to be leaving the people who I've made all these memories with."

Siara

Siara Skye Henthorn


Siara Henthorn will be a 2024 graduate of Washburn District High School and is the granddaughter of Kelly Lunney 

During her high school career, She has been involved in The National Honors Society, The Civil Rights Club, student government, and yearbook. While being an employee at Wal-Mart for two years.

Her favorite high school memory is gossiping with Kolbie, Nishelle and Hilary.

Siara Henthorn is most proud of where she is now in life. Along with getting accepted into her top college.

Her favorite hobbies are building Legos, reading, hanging out with friends, and watching the sunset.

After graduation Siara plans to go to the University of New England and get her degree in Psychology to become a therapist for adolescents.

Looking back on her years at WDHS, the person that had the biggest impact on Siara Henthorn is Mrs. Drost has always pushed her to do and be her best. She thanks Mrs. Drost for everything she has taught her whether it’s a school lesson or a life lesson. 

Siara Henthorn leaves WDHS with this quote: “there is nothing wrong with you this is growth this is transformation protecting yourself getting lost in the noise figuring it out feeling used uncared for losing hope burning out this fear this is processing this surviving this is being alive" - Rupi Kaur


Chelsea

Chelsea Dawn Hobbs

Chelsea Hobbs will be a 2024 graduate of Washburn District High School and is the daughter of Craig and Crystal Hobbs.  

During her high school career, Chelsea has been involved in athletics having played varsity soccer and basketball since 8th grade, and holding a Captain role on both teams for multiple years. Chelsea played varsity softball during her freshmen and senior years and has also been a member of the school's varsity club and has served as an officer.  Chelsea has been involved as part of the yearbook staff her senior year and a student council member for three out of the four years of high school. During her sophomore year, Chelsea was inducted into the school's chapter of the National Honor Society to which she became President her senior year. 

Her favorite high school memory was going to Boston, to watch a Celtics game with the basketball teams.

Chelsea is most proud of receiving the MPA Principal's award along with completing approximately 350 hours towards the Maine State licensing exam for cosmetology. 

Her favorite hobbies are hanging out with friends and family, playing sports, and going on vacation.

After graduation, Chelsea plans to attend Northern Maine Community College majoring in Business Administration. Once that is completed she plans to obtain her Cosmetology license.

Looking back on her years at WDHS, the person who had the biggest impact on Chelsea is Mrs. Hemphill. “She’s been my cheerleader since middle school, always cheering me on in whatever I do.”

Chelsea leaves WDHS with this quote: “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6


Nishelle

Nishelle Melinda Goulet Kelley

Nishelle Kelley will be a 2024 graduate of Washburn District High School and is the daughter of Travis and Lacie Kelley.

During her high school career, Nishelle has been involved in Varsity and JV basketball, NHS, Yearbook and working at Walmart.

Her favorite high school memory is “when we would distract Mr. Poisson into telling dad jokes (which I never understood) for half of health class so that we didn't have to do work.” 

Nishelle is most proud of making the honor roll every quarter of her high school career. 

Her favorite hobby is traveling with her family.

After graduation Nishelle plans to continue working and figuring out what her future holds. 

Looking back on her years at WDHS, the person that had the biggest impact on Nishelle is her parents. “They are the people I have looked up to my whole life and they helped me become the person that I am today. They showed me that anything is possible and to never give up. They encouraged me when high school got hard and they always helped me through any and every obstacle I faced. My parents will always be my greatest blessings and I hope they know how much I appreciate them.”

Nishelle leaves WDHS with this quote: “High school is about finding who you are, because that's more important than trying to be someone else.”  


Lilleth

Lilith McPherson

Lillith McPherson will be a 2024 graduate of Washburn District High School and is the daughter of Shawn and Rowena McPherson

During her high school career, she has been involved in the Writing Club, along with the Dungeons and Dragons Club.

After graduation, Lillith plans to attend the University of Maine at Farmington.

Castor

Castor Angeles Mendoza

Castor Mendoza will be a 2024 graduate of Washburn District High School and is the son of Adam and Joan Mendoza.

Castor has let his musical talents shine as a member of the school's band and pep band over the years and has been a member of the varsity club and varsity soccer team.

Castor has taken advantage of the course offerings from the Caribou Tech Center having enrolled in the EMS program during his junior year and their Fire Science program his senior year. Castor has put these skills to good use in his community as a member of the Washburn Fire Department.

Ayden

Ayden Ryan Mulder

Ayden Mulder will be a 2024 graduate of Washburn High School and is the son of Skyy Chilton.

During his high school career he has been involved in soccer, cross country, volleyball, yearbook, woodworking and automotives.

His favorite high school memory is when he was laying on the floor in the library and Mr. Tardie (Paul) kept saying "Mr. Mulder, please get up" and when Ayden still did not get up, Paul dragged him across the library by his foot.

Ayden is most proud of when he held the plank position for 6 minutes and 42 second.

His favorite hobbies are playing soccer and Clash of Clans.

After graduation Ayden plans to attend Northern Maine Community College and major in automotives.

Looking back on his years at WDHS, the person that had the biggest impact on Ayden is Mr. Hanson.

Ayden leaves WDHS with this quote: "When in doubt...just do some pushups."

Roegen

Roegen Aurele Rosi-Carney

Roegen Rosit-Carney will be a 2024 graduate of Washburn District High School and is the son of Alisa and Justin Carney.

During his high school career, he has been involved in varsity club, soccer, cross country, basketball, volleyball, baseball, track and field, All Aroostook for cross country and soccer and senior all-star for soccer. He worked for the town, volunteered with geese and duck banding, Can-am sled dog races and various fundraisers.

His favorite high school memory is almost upsetting Bangor Christian in the soccer play-off game at Cameron Stadium in 2021.

Roegen is most proud of serving his country in the Maine Army National Guard.

His favorite hobbies are hiking, fishing, snowmobiling, soccer, running, music, hunting & motorcycling.

After graduation Roegen plans to serve his country in the Maine Army National Guard and then attend Northern Maine Community College to become an electrician.

Looking back on his years at WDHS, the person that had the biggest impact on him was Kolbie Churchill who always gave the best advice.

Roegen leaves WDHS with this quote: "You don't realize what you have until it's gone."

Jack

John (Jack) Fox Paulson Tate

John Tate will be a 2024 graduate of Washburn District High School and is the son of Josh and Sarah Tate.

During his high school career he has been involved in soccer, basketball, volleyball, baseball, varsity club, yearbook, student council, Boy Scouts and has worked potato harvest.

John's favorite high school memory is when I beat Beckham Vaughn, the basketball captain at the time, in a shooting contest.

John is most proud of eating the one chip challenge on a soccer trip.

His favorite hobbies are to draw, animate and sports.

After graduation John plans to pursue a career in cinemathography.

Looking back on his years at WDHS, the person that had the biggest impact on John is Coach Cummings.
