There will be a playground work day on July 13th at the elementary school! We will start around 8 AM. The hope is to spruce up the playground! We are inviting anyone to come join us. Participants are invited to bring any paint brushes, basic tools (hammer, drill), rags–anything that might help with the clean-up. Please come join us and support Washburn Elementary!
The annual school “Fun Day” for Pre-K-5th grades was recently held under ideal weather conditions. Students participated in a variety of events, such as the traditional 3 Legged Relay, Egg and Spoon Relay and 50/100 Yard Dash, as well as some new additions like Corn Hole and Race to the Beach. Other events included, Save the Whale, Chicken Stir Fry, Sponge Relay, Water Balloon Toss, Obstacle Course, Cake Pan Relay, and Face Painting. Steven Boody travelled north to provide the ever popular music. A BBQ lunch of burgers & hot dogs was provided.
A big thanks goes out to all the volunteers who make the event possible.
On June 5th, Ms. Leach’s American Studies I and II classes traveled to Loring Military Heritage Center for a tour and presentation by Mr. Ray Hildebrand and Mr. Matt Cole. The students enjoyed learning more about Aroostook County’s exciting part in our nation’s history. Thanks for having us again this year!
Mrs. Hatt’s class took the afternoon last Friday to visit the nearby Salmon Brook Historical Society Museum. The Museum houses artifacts in two buildings, a farmhouse dating to the 1850’s and a barn. The students learned about farming equipment, tools, carriages, domestic life, sewing, and most importantly, local history. They had a wonderful time and say they can’t wait to return to the museum with family.
