WELCOME to DAVID J. LYON WASHBURN DISTRICT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL . Our School was built in 1988 and offers a variety of academic activities for PreK – 8 students. Currently our enrollment is at 276. Our building, along with the high school and other facilities, sits on a spacious area of 42 acres. Upon taking a tour through our building and around the grounds one will be presented with displays of art, academic work, athletic accomplishments and pride that students have created.
“The mission at Washburn District Elementary School is to challenge students to reach their full potential and pursue their goals, to instill the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary for academic success, to provide a safe and positive environment, to create a community of respect and caring for others, and to encourage self reliance and responsible participation in society.”
IMPORTANT UPDATE 12-2009:
The DAVID J. LYON WASHBURN DISTRICT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL is preparing to meet the safety standards set forth by the State of Maine. All staff and personnel of our school will begin wearing identification badges as of January 4, 2010. Any parents, volunteers, or visitors requesting to move about in the building MUST stop at the office and receive a required visitor’s badge. Those found in the building without a badge may be asked to return to the office or leave, if necessary. This is not to punish visitors, but to provide the safest environment possible for our students and staff. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Rick Bragg at 455-4504.
