Chemistry Final Project 

TASK:

In this project you will be choosing a Chemistry concept in which you will research, study, and convey to the class. 

You will be expected to use web and book resources.  The concept cannot be one in which you or a classmate has already done. 

You will have one week to complete this project, use your time in class wisely and if needed continue your research and progress outside of the classroom. 

You will be presenting on Tuesday June 1, Wednesday June 2, and Thursday June 3.

  • MARVELAccessScience - click on Chemistry to narrow your search before you start. You will see a lengthy list of topics. You can also check the news articles in this database to see if there is a current article discussing your concept.  Use MARVEL > Brittanica Online Academic Edition to find information, illustrations, & possibly videos on your topic.  Use Academic Search Premier & Masterfile Premier to find current articles.

GRADING:

This project will be graded in three parts: 

  1. PAPER:  will be graded on content, accuracy, grammar, and spelling.  Your paper should be 3-5 pages in length, double spaced, and 12 pt. font. (40 points)
  2.  PRESENTATION:  Neatness, creativeness, accuracy, and how well you represent the concept.  PowerPoint is the presentation option you should use.  Your presentation should be 2-4 minutes long.  This should include at least 10 slides with content information, a title page slide, and a sources slide.  Slides should have pictures and text.   (40 points).
  3. YOU MUST SITE ALL SOURCES, WRITTEN OR OTHERWISE.  YOU WILL LOSE 20 POINTS FOR NOT CITING SOURCES.  Remember to site your pictures as well as the content information used. (20 points)

*There will be points deducted for not completing this project on time. 

*If you do not use the computers appropriately and productively, you will be required to complete the project outside of class or in the library using only hard copy sources and points will be deducted from your final grade.

*You will lose points for not giving attention to other speakers during their presentations.
