A Legend Adventure

You have just finished reading several versions of Arthurian legends.  All of these legends have 5 components:

1. A hero

One who follows the tenets of the Chivalric Code

2. A Quest

The most famous quest was for the Holy Grail

3. A Perilous Journey

4. Enchantments (mysterious or supernatural happenings)

An excerpt from a book talking about the culture of the Middle Ages

     5. Triumph of Good over Evil

Chivalry Today offers many podcasts discussing our interpretations today compared to the medieval views

Even today, modern legends contain all or pieces of these components.

Look at this website created by a storyteller who points out that there are 7 stages to a traditional legend: Legend

And no, most people agree that Chivalry is not dead!

Take the book you have read for this assignment and use the program Gliffy to create a spider web which will give examples from the book which correspond to each of the five elements of a legend.

This is an example in Gliffy of a very simple start of the project

You may use any program (or a poster board) to display your complete web which will demonstrate to your class how your book fits the legend genre. Gliffy is just one suggestion of how you can create your story board.  The use of icons (images) to portray your elements will add even more authenticity to your depiction.

The pictorial demonstration will serve as a springboard to your formal writing assignment.
