As Americans, we celebrate our freedom and independence from Great Britain. Ordinary people were the heroes and heroines of the American Revolution. One of these many courageous and dedicated people will be honored for his or her achievements with the American of the Year Award.

The finalists have been chosen. You, as one of the investigators, have been given the challenge of researching and presenting one of the finalists to a committee of judges, who will be revealed to you at the presentation.

You will be given the name of one candidate and a number of links to aid you in your search. You may use other sources, too. You may want to investigate your classroom library and your school library. Mrs. Knowles, Mr. Blackstone and Mrs. Brown are ready to advise you in your webquest.
