ATTENTION:  Parents of Grade 7 & 8 Students

There will be a MANDATORY Laptop meeting with all parents of 7th & 8th grade students.  The purpose of this meeting is to discuss the opportunity for all 7th & 8th grade students to take their laptops home.  This meeting will be held at the David J. Lyon Washburn District Elementary School at 7:30 pm on Tuesday, February 2nd.  During this meeting, information will be disseminated over topics such as; policies, procedures, and insurance issues in regards to the laptops leaving the building.  Please be aware that one of the criteria for potentially allowing your son/daughter the privilege of taking the laptop home is to attend this meeting.  If a parent is not present at the meeting, then the student is not eligible to take the laptop home.

If you desire any further information please contact Linda Bourgoine or Ricky Bragg at 455-4504.

January 2010 Updates

Friday, Jan 29 - ALL Middle School Basketball games have been cancelled.

January 4, 2010

Dear PreK and Kindergarten Parents/Guardians:

The time for changing am/pm sessions is quickly sneaking up on us.  Your students will be making this official switch on Monday, January 25th.  Please continue to send your child at the current scheduled session until the switch is made.  We are working diligently on the new bus schedules as these may also be altered with the changing of sessions.  We will send out further information about new pickup/drop off times as soon as we have them finalized.  Please be advised that during the first week (Jan. 25-29) times may not be exact, as the bus drivers will be tweaking runs for the most efficient route time.  If you have any questions please call the office at
455-4504.

 Respectfully,

Ricky Bragg

December 2009 Updates

SCHOOL YEAR CALENDAR UPDATE!

At the December 14 MSAD #45 Board meeting, the directors approved a few revisions to the 2009-2010 MSAD #45 school calendar.  These changes have been indicated in RED on the school calendar.

What are the changes?  On January 15 and February 5, both schools will be released at 12 noon.  A teacher workshop day has also been changed to February 8; therefore, neither school will be in session.

Hopefully, this advance notice will help you make any necessary preparations for the care of your child(ren) on these days.

IMPORTANT UPDATE:
The DAVID J. LYON WASHBURN DISTRICT ELEMENTARY SCHOOL is preparing to meet the safety standards set forth by the State of Maine.  All staff and personnel of our school will begin wearing identification badges as of January 4, 2010.  Any parents, volunteers, or visitors requesting to move about in the building MUST stop at the office and receive a required visitor’s badge.  Those found in the building without a badge may be asked to return to the office or leave, if necessary.  This is not to punish visitors, but to provide the safest environment possible for our students and staff.  If you have any questions please feel free to contact Rick Bragg at 455-4504.
